The unthinking universe

Random quote of the day:
“But even if the universe were to crush him, man would still be nobler than his slayer, because he knows that he is dying and the advantage the universe has over him. Of its victory, the universe knows nothing.”
—Blaise Pascal, Pensées 347

Yikes, that’s pretty dark. If the universe is so random and meaningless, then what’s the purpose and/or value of nobility? I’d rather drink the kool-aid.
It’s not for nothing that Brother Pascal is sometimes called the father of existentialism.
